I have uncovered an old letter from an anonymous shareholder of the original James & John Graham Company in Penrith.
The letter dates from almost 40 years ago but much of its content is prophetic and signposts how we try to operate today’s version of Grahams.
The letter writer was a business owner in Penrith, who chose not to sign the letter, but wanted the contents read at a shareholder Extraordinary Meeting on 10th August 1983.
The references to Kwik Save and Lipton’s are noteworthy.
I enclose a copy of that letter which makes an interesting read, especially in today’s economic conditions.
I don’t have any information about the meeting or even if the letter was read out to the shareholders.
Perhaps someone can give some further insight into what happened at that meeting….
The letter was hand written, double sided so can appear a little fuzzy.
